Step Three: Interview
Once the application is received and reviewed there will be an interview. This allows you to learn more about the school from the staff and answer questions you may have about the school. This also gives the staff the opportunity to explain the core philosophy and structure of the school and learn more about your educational beliefs and goals for your student(s).
Step Four: School Visit
If the interview reveals that your student and family have a firm understanding of the school and its philosophy, and our school fits with your educational goals, your student(s) will visit the school for one full day, from 8:30-2:30. This will not only give you and your student(s) a more complete understanding of our program, but it also gives us the opportunity to observe how your student(s) gets along with others and follows our ground rules, as well as to learn more about the interests of your student(s) and how they are able to self-direct.
Step Five: Admission and Observation
After the School Visit, we are happy to answer any additional questions you may have. Admission is primarily based on verifying that families have a complete understanding of our philosophy, show a willingness to be active members of our school and greater community, and reveal that their educational goals and beliefs are aligned with the school’s mission and practice. Furthermore, students need to be able to work independently and be self-directed, be considerate and respectful community members, and demonstrate that they can follow our basic ground rules. If these criteria are met through the application, interview and school visit, then your student(s) will be accepted to our program.
Please note, that during the first month, we will be closely observing your student(s) to make sure that they are following our ground rules, working well with others and integrating into our school successfully. If we have concerns, we will schedule a meeting with you to address them. The outcome of the meeting may be the decision that our school is not the best fit for your student(s).
The Marram School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or national/ethnic origin in our policies, procedures, programs, activities and services for admissions, students, and employees.
