Location: Native Roots Farm
Date: Thursday, March 19
Time: 9:00 am -12:00 pm (shorter time for the winter months)
Details: Native Roots is an educational organic farm owned and operated by Damien Appel. The students participate in hands-on projects to learn about the farm. Those who have taken this trip before have loved their time there and asked to return often, so we have near monthly trips planned for the year. Although we will be working mostly inside, please make sure students wear clothes appropriate for the weather and that can get dirty, as we hope to take a winter hike. Bring work gloves if you have them. Those who take medicine for seasonal allergies or allergies to animals (cats, dogs, horses, goats) may want to take it before coming.
Transportation: All students are invited to attend. If your student typically attends school on the day of the trip we will carpool from the school. We will be leaving school promptly at 8:40, so please make sure you are on time. We will arrive back at the school around 12:30 and have lunch and a regular afternoon. Please let me know if you can help car pool for the Thursday, March 19 trip.
If your student does not typically attend school on the day of the trip, please drop them off and pick them up at the farm.
Directions: The address of the farm is 942 North 651 East, Westville, IN. 651 North is a small road off of the north side of 900 North in Jackson Township. Follow 651 North to the very end. It will lead straight into the driveway of Damien's house. See the map on the website here. If you would like more specific directions from 49, please let me know.
Confirmation: Please complete the form below or email Mary and send in the $5 fee for the March 19 trip by Thursday, March 12. Please turn in the fee in an envelope marked with your student(s) name.
